About Time…

On October 10th, we start our third decade with a splendid sextet led by bassist David Ambrosio (last heard here with “Civil Disobedience”) and drummer Russ Meissner, who are celebrating the 10th anniversary of a sublime album, Moments in Time, at the Arcata Playhouse. The Redwood Jazz Alliance

is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization promoting performance and education by touring artists. We do what we do because of:

  • avid fans with open ears, eager to hear a variety of major players on the contemporary jazz & improvised music scene;

  • artists and their representatives, who often go to extraordinary lengths to check out the scene behind the Redwood Curtain; and

  • a core group of civic-minded businesses and professionals, who along with dozens of dedicated individual members have liberally contributed their money, goods, and services to enhance our region’s cultural landscape.

We’re a non-profit, all-volunteer organization. Ticket sales cover only about a third of our expenses, so it's direct support from members of our community that helps us keep ticket prices low. If you or your business can make a tax-deductible contribution—or if you'd like to become a contributing member of the RJA—please visit our Support page and become part of the Alliance!
